Give this tip a spin to feel 5° cooler

Did you know that running a well-placed ceiling fan simultaneously with the air conditioner can make a room feel up to 5 degrees cooler?

During summer, make sure the fan is turning in a counterclockwise direction. The room actually is not cooling down; you feel colder because of the wind-chill effect created by the fan’s airflow.

When winter rolls around, be sure to switch your fan’s motor to the clockwise direction and use it at a low speed to produce a gentle updraft. This will move the warm air from the ceiling into the occupied space below.

Pro tip: You can save both money and energy by adjusting your thermostat when you operate the fan. Sign up to receive a free programmable thermostat to help improve the comfort of your home and to help lower your energy usage each month.
