Five Tips to Spring Your Home into Energy Efficiency

Spring is here. Traditionally, it’s the time of year when people thoroughly clean their house and conduct home maintenance and repairs. As you tackle your spring-cleaning list, keep in mind ways you can save energy and lower your utility bills.

Here are five simple tips to make your home more energy efficient:

1. Get a professional to tune up your HVAC system. HVAC experts know exactly what to look for when it comes to maintenance check-ups and should be your trusted guides.

2. Change the air filter in your HVAC system. This should be done twice monthly during hot months when your HVAC runs a lot. Your system has to work harder because a dirty air filter slows down the air flow.

4. Seal leaky air ducts. There’s nothing worse than having air ducts that seep the cooled air back outside, leaving your system overworked. So get them sealed!

5. Pledge to make your home more energy efficient. Almost half of the average home’s annual energy usage goes toward heating and cooling. That’s why it’s so important to find ways to conserve energy in your home!
